Role Purpose

The Head of Programme and Operations is a senior leadership role responsible for driving the strategic direction, program development, and operational excellence of YNCSD. Reporting directly to the CEO, this position oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of impactful programs while ensuring operational efficiency and resource optimization. The ideal candidate will be a visionary leader with a proven track record in program management, stakeholder engagement, and team development within the NGO sector.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Program Leadership

• Design and lead comprehensive programs that align with YNCSD’s mission and strategic goals.
• Develop and implement programmatic strategies and annual plans, ensuring alignment with donor expectations and organizational objectives.
• Drive innovation in program design to address emerging needs and challenges in SRHR, FGM/C, and gender-based violence.

2. Operational Management

• Oversee daily operations to ensure seamless program delivery and optimal resource utilization.
• Establish and maintain robust systems for monitoring project performance and evaluating program impact.
• Manage program and operational budgets, ensuring fiscal accountability and compliance with donor requirements.

3. Team Leadership and Development

• Lead, mentor, and inspire a high-performing team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and facilitate professional development opportunities for team members.
• Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.

4. Stakeholder Engagement and Partnership Building

• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, community leaders, and international partners.
• Represent YNCSD at national and global forums, advocating for youth-led initiatives and amplifying the organization’s impact.
• Develop strategic partnerships to expand YNCSD’s reach and influence.

5. Compliance and Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor regulations, and legal requirements.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to safeguard program delivery and organizational reputation.
• Document and address operational and programmatic risks proactively.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Health, or a related field; a Master’s degree is an advantage.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in program management, operations, and leadership within the NGO sector.
• Proven expertise in managing SRHR, FGM/C, or gender-based violence programs, particularly in Nigeria or similar contexts.
• Demonstrated success in team leadership, capacity building, and partnership development.
• Exceptional communication, negotiation, and project management skills.
